The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is mourning the passing of Julius Kipruto Keter, the Chemundu/Kapngetuny Member of County Assembly and Majority Whip of the Nandi County Assembly. Keter died on April 12, 2025, at the Fountain Hospital in Eldoret after battling illness for about three weeks.
In a heartfelt statement, the UDA described Keter as a dependable and dedicated party member. “The UDA Party sends its sincere condolences to the family of the late Hon. Julius Kipruto Keter… a son, father, husband, breadwinner, and a dependable party diehard,” the party stated. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family, the people of Chemundu/Kapngetuny Ward, and the entire Nandi County at this very difficult moment of mourning.”
The Nandi County Assembly Speaker, Philemon Melly, also paid tribute to Keter, calling him a legend and a true servant of the people. “His tireless work, unwavering commitment and genuine love for the community will be cherished,” said Melly.
Keter was elected as MCA in the 2022 general elections and quickly rose to the position of Majority Whip due to his dedication and leadership qualities. He was known for his calm demeanor, thoughtful approach, and relentless advocacy for development within his ward and the county at large.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang described Keter as more than a colleague—he was a friend and a passionate leader. “Keter was not just a colleague but a friend and a true servant of the people. His unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of his constituents, his humility and his calm, thoughtful leadership will be missed,” Governor Sang said.
Keter’s death marks a significant loss not only for his family and constituents but also for the UDA party and Nandi County as a whole. He is remembered as a strong voice in the county assembly, a leader whose legacy of service and integrity will continue to inspire.
