Police in Nairobi are investigating an incident in which a woman sustained serious injuries after jumping from the fourth floor of an apartment in Mihango, Kayole, in an attempt to escape an alleged rape attempt.
According to police reports, the woman was with the suspect in his house on Sunday night when a confrontation erupted. She claimed that the suspect attempted to rape her, prompting her to flee to the balcony and leap to the ground floor in a desperate bid to escape.
Security guards at the apartment complex discovered the injured woman and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was found to have suffered fractures in her legs. Meanwhile, other guards detained the suspect and alerted the police, leading to his arrest.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter. A police team visited the scene and the hospital to assess the victim’s condition. Law enforcement officials have assured the public that a thorough probe will be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Botched Robbery in Majengo Ends in Shootout
In a separate incident, a suspected thug was shot and injured in a confrontation with police following a failed robbery attempt in Majengo slums.
Police reports indicate that two suspects had posed as customers at a local hotel on Monday evening before drawing a homemade gun and demanding the day’s earnings from the owner. The hotel owner managed to sneak out as the gunmen were focused on other customers and alerted a police patrol team nearby.
Upon arrival, officers engaged the suspects in a chase and gunfire ensued. One of the suspects was shot and injured, dropping a pistol and a kitchen knife before managing to escape. The police have since recovered the weapon and are appealing to local clinics and hospitals to report any patient seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
Authorities have intensified security operations in Nairobi to curb the rising cases of violent robberies. According to police sources, several suspects have been arrested in recent days as part of ongoing efforts to restore law and order in the city.
