Kenyan Artist Simon Javan Okello Set To Perfom At Alliance Francaise

Simon Javan Okelo is a Kenyan multi-hyphenate artist, podcaster, creative entrepreneur and festival founder / director. He is set to headline a concert this Friday, August 16th at Alliance Française de Nairobi’s garden stage alongside One Vibe Band. The event that will be in celebration of his recently released album ‘Madaraka Vibes’ will also feature surprise guests. Simon Javan Okelo says, “This concert is a chance to share ‘Madaraka Vibes’ with my Kenyan audience and celebrate the incredible journey of the Madaraka Festival,” adding, “I am excited to give a taste of what’s to come at the Kenyan edition of the festival in December.”

Simon Javan Okelo is the founder of One Vibe Media and Madaraka Festival, the biggest platform supporting Kenyan and East African music in the US. The concert will serve as a lead up to an edition of Madaraka Festival that will be hosted in Kenya, 14 December 2024. 

The Madaraka Festival started in Washington State in 2014. Over the past decade it has become one of the largest African music festivals. 2023 was a game changer for the festival that had Sauti Sol headline in the US. In the same year, they exceeded expectations by reaching over 25,000 people physically and 30 million virtually across six metropolitan cities in the US through their partnership with Live Nation. The Madaraka Festival seeks to increase the visibility of East African artists by presenting their work in larger venues and new markets around the world. Simon’s efforts have garnered significant media attention, with features in prominent outlets such as CNN, Voice of America and many more.
