Kenyan drama enthusiasts are in for a thrilling ride as ‘Kash Money,’ a new drama series from Insignia Productions, is set to premiere this Friday, January 31, on Netflix. The series delves into the power struggles of a wealthy family dynasty, exploring themes of greed, betrayal, and deep-seated family conflicts.
Directed and produced by Grace Kahaki and Phil Bresson, ‘Kash Money’ brings together a star-studded cast, including industry legends such as John Sibi-Okumu, Sanaipei Tande, Amara Tari, Lenana Kariba, Makbul Mohamed, Janet Mbugua, Morris Mwangi, Dedan Juma, Joey Muthengi, and Oliver Litondo.
Speaking about the show, Grace Kahaki described it as a “twisted, fast-paced drama that tackles relevant social issues.” She highlighted its African essence, noting how the story reflects the impact of money on family relationships and the darker side of greed. “Greed is a human condition, and the show illustrates the destruction it can bring if left unchecked,” she added.
At the heart of the story is Joe Njenga, played by the renowned John Sibi-Okumu. A charismatic and wealthy patriarch, Joe appears to have the perfect life. However, beneath the surface, his family harbors deep secrets and resentments. His sudden and suspicious death sets off a whirlwind of betrayals, revelations, and conflicts, pushing the Njenga family to its breaking point. The shocking twist in Joe’s will adds another layer of intrigue, leaving the family in turmoil.
His daughter Kate, portrayed by Amara Tari, struggles with conflicting emotions, resenting her father for interfering with her love life while mourning his loss. Meanwhile, his wife Georgina (Sanaipei Tande) finds herself entangled in deception as her extramarital affair unravels. As the secrets mount, she must choose between loyalty and self-preservation.
Adding an explosive twist is Christian (Morris Mwangi), Joe’s illegitimate son, who is also a ruthless killer. Unaware of his true lineage, Christian is drawn into the family drama and, upon discovering his father’s identity, embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance.
With just six episodes, ‘Kash Money’ is expected to grip audiences with its suspenseful storytelling and intricate character arcs.
