Renowned Kenyan YouTuber Miss Trudy has once again found herself a victim of burglary, this time for the third time in under two months. The content creator, whose real name is Gertrude Awino Njeri, recently revealed that her father’s newly constructed home in Siaya County has been targeted multiple times by thieves. These burglaries, despite their recurring nature, continue to frustrate and baffle Trudy and her family.
The home, which was built by Miss Trudy as a gift for her father, has now been broken into three times in quick succession. The first incident occurred three weeks ago, followed by another two weeks later, and the most recent burglary happening just a few days ago. This string of thefts has left Trudy deeply unsettled, especially given the precautions they had taken after the first break-in.
“We had workers staying there, but we’re unsure where they were during the incidents,” Trudy disclosed in a heartfelt video on her YouTube channel. She recounted how they let go of the first worker who was residing in the house after the initial break-in, thinking the theft could have been linked to him. However, even after hiring a new worker, the burglaries continued, with each incident resulting in significant losses.
A Targeted Home
The home, located in a village in Siaya, holds significant sentimental value for Miss Trudy. It was built for her father, and the family had already experienced thefts in the old house on the same property. Despite relocating into the newly constructed home, the thefts persisted, creating a sense of violation and unease.
“They broke the doors, and the worker claimed not to know what happened,” Trudy explained, sharing her frustration about the lack of answers. “Someone needs to be held accountable. They stole the solar power system. The house is new, and I was building it for my dad. They had already robbed the old house, so I don’t understand why they returned.”
The solar power system, a critical component of the home’s infrastructure, was among the items stolen. Trudy expressed disbelief at the boldness of the thieves, who had no qualms about returning to a place they had already targeted. The repeated incidents have now raised questions about whether these burglaries are random acts of theft or if the home is being specifically targeted.
Living in Ghana, Seeking Justice in Kenya
Miss Trudy, who has since relocated to Ghana following her marriage to fellow content creator Wode Maya, feels the frustration of being far from home while dealing with the ongoing challenges in Siaya. Although she is physically removed from the situation, she has made it clear that she is actively seeking justice and accountability.
Trudy’s efforts to protect her family’s home, including replacing the workers, have been in vain so far. Now, she is calling on the local authorities and the community to help apprehend those responsible for the break-ins.
“We’re hoping that the culprits will be caught and that these thefts will stop. It’s painful because we’ve done everything we can to safeguard the home,” Trudy said.
Security Concerns in Rural Kenya
The plight of Miss Trudy and her family highlights a broader concern about security in rural areas of Kenya. Despite the efforts of homeowners to protect their properties, incidents of theft and burglary continue to rise, leaving many feeling vulnerable. The lack of formal security structures in villages makes it easier for thieves to operate with impunity.
In Miss Trudy’s case, the repeated thefts have been particularly painful because the home was a labor of love—a gift to her father. That such a personal and meaningful space could be violated multiple times has added an emotional toll to the financial losses.
A Plea for Help
Miss Trudy’s story resonates with many Kenyans who have experienced similar violations of their homes. As she continues to seek justice, she hopes that those responsible for the thefts will be brought to book. “It’s disheartening to see something you’ve worked so hard for being destroyed in this way,” Trudy shared, as she appeals for help in finding the culprits.
The YouTuber has expressed her intention to continue pursuing the matter until the thieves are apprehended. She is now reaching out to the community in Siaya and beyond to help in the search for justice, hoping that her family’s ordeal can finally come to an end.
