President William Ruto has expressed confidence in Kenya’s economic recovery and future prospects, declaring 2025 as a pivotal year for the nation. Speaking during the Global Cathedral Sunday service at the COMESA Grounds in Nairobi, the President affirmed that Kenya’s economy is healing and stabilizing, signaling a brighter future.
“Kenya is going to go places, our economy is healing, and by working together, inflation, interest, and exchange rates have come down. We have seen a great movement towards the healing of our economy so that we can proudly move together as a nation. I believe 2025 will be a great year,” President Ruto remarked.
The President attributed the positive trajectory to collaborative efforts between the government and citizens, underscoring the importance of unity and prayer. He called on religious leaders to pray for continued economic progress and national prosperity.
A significant endorsement of Kenya’s economic potential came from Moody’s, a global credit rating agency. The agency revised Kenya’s financial outlook from negative to positive, highlighting improving liquidity risks and debt affordability. Moody’s acknowledged the nation’s ongoing efforts to stabilize inflation and reduce exchange rate volatility, noting potential reductions in domestic borrowing costs as monetary policies take effect.
Despite the positive outlook, Moody’s maintained Kenya’s long-term issuer and debt ratings at CAA1, citing persistent credit risks related to weak debt affordability and high gross financing needs. However, the agency’s revised outlook reflects growing confidence in Kenya’s ability to navigate these challenges.
President Ruto also highlighted Kenya’s international role in security diplomacy, particularly its leadership of the security mission in Haiti. He commended the Trump administration for its support of Kenya’s efforts in the Caribbean nation, describing the mission as a demonstration of Kenya’s commitment to global peace and stability.
“I am very proud that President Trump and the new administration support Kenya’s mission in Haiti to help the men, women, and children of that nation live in peace and stability,” he stated.
Kenya’s leadership role in Haiti, requested by the United States, is part of its tradition of contributing to global security. President Ruto emphasized that such missions enhance Kenya’s international standing and align with its values of peace and solidarity.
As Kenya works towards economic recovery and global leadership, President Ruto’s vision for 2025 as a transformative year offers hope for a prosperous and united nation.
