Reality TV star and entrepreneur Khloe Kardashian recently opened up about her past relationships, revealing that divorcing her ex-husband, former NBA player Lamar Odom, was far more painful than dealing with Tristan Thompson’s repeated infidelity. Speaking on her new podcast, Khloe in Wonderland, the Kardashians star reflected on the emotional toll of her marriage to Odom and how it shaped her response to later challenges in her love life.
Khloé and Lamar married in 2009 after a whirlwind romance but filed for divorce in 2013 due to Odom’s struggles with drug addiction, infidelity, and public scandals. Despite the challenges, Khloé held off on finalizing the divorce in 2015 when Odom suffered a near-fatal overdose at a Nevada brothel. She remained by his side throughout his recovery but ultimately realized she could not save him if he was unwilling to change.
Recalling a pivotal moment in their marriage, Khloe shared how she once encouraged Odom to join Team USA basketball to help him stay focused. However, his response “You can’t want it more than I do” was a turning point. That statement made her realize that no matter how much she loved him, she couldn’t force him to choose a better path. This realization led her to finally go through with the divorce, marking a major emotional moment in her life.
In contrast, Khloé’s relationship with Tristan Thompson was marred by infidelity from the beginning. The two began dating in 2016, but Tristan was caught cheating multiple times, including while Khloé was pregnant with their daughter, True. Despite his repeated betrayals, she handled the situation differently, having already developed resilience from her past experiences. She recalled isolating herself after giving birth and choosing not to focus on the media frenzy surrounding Tristan’s actions.
Khloé, now 40, reflected on how she never viewed herself as a victim, despite the pain she endured in both relationships. “With each relationship where something bad has happened, I didn’t take it and say, ‘Woe is me,’” she said. Instead, she chose to learn and grow from each experience.
Now a mother of two, Khloé continues to focus on her family and personal growth. Her journey serves as a testament to her strength, showing that while heartbreak may be inevitable, self-worth and resilience always prevail.
