Githurai subcounty, Kiambu, a 45-year-old man reportedly stabbed and killed his 16-year-old daughter following a violent domestic dispute with his wife. The shocking incident occurred after a series of tensions between the couple, which culminated in a brutal act of violence.
The man, whose identity is yet to be fully disclosed, had initially left the family home due to ongoing domestic disagreements with his wife. However, he later returned to their residence, where the altercation escalated. According to a police report, the man violently knocked on the door of their home, and when his wife, aged 45, opened the door, he forcefully grabbed their three-year-old son, stating that he intended to leave with the child.
As the wife attempted to resist, the situation quickly turned deadly. The man attacked his wife with a kitchen knife, stabbing her in the head. The daughter, who was screaming in distress, was also attacked and fatally stabbed in the back. The man then fled the scene, abandoning the son and leaving behind the blood-stained knife.
Neighbors, upon hearing the commotion, rushed the victims to Ruiru Subcounty Hospital. Tragically, the daughter was pronounced dead on arrival, while the mother, severely injured with stab wounds to her head, is currently receiving treatment in serious but stable condition.
The local police were alerted to the incident by the landlord of the plot where the family lived, who reported the violent altercation. Authorities arrived at the scene, about one kilometer east of the Ruiru Police Station, and found the murder weapon, a blood-stained kitchen knife, at the scene. Investigations are ongoing, with the police focusing on tracking down the suspect, who managed to escape to an unknown location.
The body of the deceased daughter was taken to the Thika Level Five Hospital morgue for an autopsy, while the mother’s condition remains stable as she continues her recovery. This incident has left the local community in shock and disbelief.
This tragic event comes on the heels of another recent domestic violence case in Kiambu, where a man killed his estranged wife before taking his own life in Kamandura village, Limuru. Such incidents highlight the growing concern over domestic violence in the region, prompting calls for greater intervention and support for families facing similar challenges.
