Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has firmly dispelled rumours of a rift with President William Ruto, assuring Kenyans that all is well within the government. Speaking at a thanksgiving service in Mbeere North, Embu County, on Sunday, Kindiki addressed speculations that arose during his recent absence from key state events attended by the President.
The DP clarified that his absence was due to a short holiday, granted with the President’s full approval. “All is well; I am officially back from holiday,” he stated, emphasizing that there was no cause for alarm.
Kindiki acknowledged the public’s curiosity regarding his whereabouts but dismissed the narratives suggesting tension within the top leadership as baseless and misleading. He urged Kenyans not to be swayed by such reports, which he described as deliberate attempts to create unnecessary panic and confusion.
In his address, the Deputy President reassured the nation that the government remains focused on its development agenda. He underscored the administration’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to Kenyans, noting that all incomplete and delayed projects would be completed within set timelines.
“We are dedicated to delivering on our promises. This year, our focus remains on transforming the lives of Kenyans through effective governance and timely project delivery,” he said.
Kindiki also took the opportunity to caution against divisive politics, warning that such tactics could derail the government’s development efforts. He urged leaders and citizens alike to work together to promote unity and progress.
This public reassurance comes amid heightened scrutiny of the government’s performance and cohesion. As 2025 begins, the government faces mounting pressure to address key challenges, including economic recovery, unemployment, and infrastructure development.
The Deputy President’s return to the political stage marks a crucial moment in affirming the administration’s stability. His message was clear: the government is united and committed to ensuring Kenyans reap the benefits of the promises made during the election campaign.
