Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) through the establishment of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) across the country. This initiative, aimed at driving industrialization and job creation, is set to build 47 industrial parks, one in each county, to empower local economies and promote sustainable growth.
During a recent status briefing with key stakeholders, Kindiki highlighted the government’s commitment to achieving the first cohort of CAIPs by 2025. The Deputy President expressed optimism about the progress made so far and emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among various government agencies to meet this ambitious target. He stated that the establishment of these parks is central to the success of BETA, which seeks to transform Kenya’s economy from the ground up.
“The CAIPs are a critical component of our economic agenda, and we are on track to ensure that the first cohort is delivered by 2025. These parks will create a strong foundation for industrialization, empower small-scale producers, and contribute to the diversification of Kenya’s economy,” Kindiki said.
The briefing, which included contributions from key government officials, saw presentations from the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry, as well as other supporting departments. Notable figures at the meeting included Principal Secretaries Dr. Chris Kiptoo (National Treasury), Alfred K’Ombudo (Trade), and Teresia Mbaika (Devolution), who discussed their respective roles in supporting the CAIPs initiative.
The CAIPs are designed to serve as hubs for the aggregation, value addition, and marketing of agricultural and industrial products. By boosting Kenya’s industrial output and supporting small-scale producers, the parks will play a pivotal role in fostering economic growth and improving livelihoods in all 47 counties.
Kindiki called on local stakeholders to actively engage in the initiative to ensure its success and long-term sustainability. He reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring that no county is left behind as it strives to transform the country’s economy through industrialization.
“We are determined to unlock opportunities for all Kenyans. These parks will serve as engines of economic growth, benefiting communities nationwide,” he concluded.
