The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the opening of registration for the July series of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination. The registration period, targeting repeaters, private candidates, and adult learners, will run from Monday, January 27, to Friday, February 21, 2025.
Candidates wishing to sit for this examination will be required to pay KSh 7,200. The payment must be made at the point of registration through the E-Citizen platform, as outlined in the KNEC registration guidelines. KNEC has emphasized that fee payment is mandatory for successful registration and that no late registrations will be accommodated after the portal closes on February 21.
The July series allows repeaters to improve their KCSE grades by sitting for either full or partial papers. Eligibility extends to all candidates who have previously registered for KCSE exams, regardless of the year they sat their initial tests. Registrations will be coordinated through County Directors of Education (CDEs) at county headquarters, while Nairobi candidates will register at the KNEC headquarters at New Mitihani House in South C.
The July KCSE examination will involve theory, practical, and project-based assessments. Practical subjects such as Art and Design, Agriculture, Woodwork, Metalwork, Building Construction, and Computer Studies will commence between January and July 2025. Theory and practical examinations will take place from July 1 to August 1, 2025, at designated centers identified by CDEs.
Candidates sitting subjects with a project component must provide details of their sub-county during registration to facilitate project administration. These projects will be undertaken at the sub-county level, under the supervision of Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs).
KNEC has outlined that candidates will be graded and certified per existing KCSE regulations. Those repeating seven or more subjects will receive a KCSE certificate, while those sitting for fewer subjects will be issued a result slip.
KNEC urges candidates to confirm their registration details and venues for rehearsals and examinations through their respective CDEs. Candidates are reminded that they must provide proof of eligibility, such as a National ID, birth certificate, or passport, to access examination centers.
This initiative offers a significant opportunity for candidates to enhance their academic credentials, ensuring no one is left behind in their pursuit of educational advancement.
