The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) will undergo scheduled maintenance this weekend, which will temporarily disrupt services for importers, exporters, and clearing agents. The maintenance is set to begin at 10:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, and will conclude at 6:00 AM on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
The iCMS system plays a pivotal role in the efficient processing of customs procedures in Kenya. It is a crucial platform for managing trade, enabling smoother clearance of cargo, and facilitating imports and exports. By integrating multiple systems into a unified framework, the iCMS reduces complexities and automates manual processes, which significantly speeds up cargo clearance and boosts the overall efficiency of the trade ecosystem.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), KRA informed the public about the upcoming maintenance, urging all stakeholders to plan their activities accordingly. “Kindly be advised that there is scheduled maintenance for iCMS system starting tomorrow Saturday, 11th January 2025 at 10:00 PM and ending on Sunday, 12th January 2025, at 6:00 AM,” the statement read.
During this maintenance window, users will not be able to access the iCMS system. As such, KRA advised taxpayers, importers, exporters, and clearing agents to make necessary arrangements in advance to avoid delays or inconvenience. While the downtime may cause some disruptions, the KRA assured the public that the system would be fully operational once the maintenance exercise is completed.
KRA has also issued an apology for any inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance. The authority emphasized its commitment to ensuring the smooth functioning of the iCMS, which is key to the efficient facilitation of trade in Kenya.
Once the maintenance is completed, stakeholders can expect a fully functional system, further enhancing trade processes and supporting the efficient movement of goods across Kenya’s borders.
