Lang’ata MP Jalang’o Rejects SRC’s Proposed Ksh 14K Salary Increase Amid Economic Crisis

Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has openly rejected the proposed salary increase by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC). In a statement, Jalang’o expressed his disapproval of the proposed Ksh 14,000 increment, citing the current economic crisis and the struggles faced by ordinary Kenyans.

“We are in a crisis and SRC is proposing an increment of Ksh 14,000! … Mimi sitaki,” Jalang’o declared, emphasizing his stance against the pay raise. He argued that, given the financial hardships many Kenyans are enduring, now is not the time for lawmakers to accept salary increases.

Jalang’o’s rejection of the proposed salary hike has resonated with many Kenyans who are grappling with the high cost of living and economic instability.
His stance highlights the need for public officials to prioritize the welfare of their constituents over personal financial gain during challenging times.
