A California man with a disturbing obsession with violence and mass murder carried out a devastating rampage that left multiple people hospitalized and claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy. The man pleaded guilty to nearly a dozen felony charges in connection with his crime spree, which took place in Ventura County in 2023. The deadly incident began when the man entered a Walmart, where he assaulted a store greeter, spitting on him before pepper-spraying and stabbing him multiple times. He then grabbed another employee and dragged them across the store before leaving. Following this violent attack, he proceeded to his parents’ home, broke in, and stole multiple weapons. He was armed with a knife and carrying a replica firearm when he set out to continue his spree.
His next target was a group of students from his former high school. As the teenagers stood on a sidewalk near a bus stop, he accelerated his vehicle toward them, striking multiple victims. The impact flipped his car, but not before severely injuring three students and killing 15-year-old Wesley Welling. The injured victims required surgeries and extensive medical care due to the severity of their wounds.
Investigators later uncovered chilling evidence of the man’s long-standing violent tendencies. His communications and text messages revealed that he had admired mass murderers and harbored extremist ideologies. For years, he had expressed intentions to carry out acts of mass violence, culminating in his horrific actions.
