The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has intensified efforts to apprehend three key suspects linked to the murder of British national Campbell Scott. The 58-year-old’s decomposing body was discovered in Makongo Forest, Makueni, weeks after his disappearance.
DCI’s homicide team has identified the suspects as Benard Mbunga Mbusu, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa, alias Edu. The trio is accused of luring Scott into a business meeting in Nairobi before he vanished on February 17. Authorities believe that after the meeting, he was abducted and subsequently murdered.
As the manhunt continues, police have already arrested two other suspects believed to be involved in the crime. Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albunus Mutinda Nzioki were presented before Magistrate Lukas Onyina on Monday, where the court heard damning details about their alleged involvement.
According to preliminary investigations, Scott was taken to Mutua’s house in Pipeline, Nairobi, where he is suspected to have been killed. The prosecution further revealed that the two suspects attempted to withdraw money from Scott’s accounts using his credit cards in multiple locations, including Nairobi, Voi, and Mombasa.
The arrested duo was apprehended on March 1 along the Nairobi-Mombasa Road. Investigators also discovered that one of the suspects had vacated his Pipeline residence, possibly in an attempt to evade capture.
DCI is now appealing to members of the public to provide any information that may lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects. Authorities believe their capture is crucial in unraveling the full details of Scott’s murder and ensuring justice for the victim.
The brutal killing of Campbell Scott has sent shockwaves, especially within the expatriate community, raising concerns about the safety of foreign nationals in the country. Law enforcement agencies have assured the public that all efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
As investigations continue, authorities urge anyone with relevant information to report to the nearest police station or use the DCI’s anonymous tip-off channels. The case remains open as detectives pursue all leads to ensure those responsible for Scott’s tragic death face the full force of the law.
