The family of Naomi Chebet, a woman who was brutally murdered in the Kangemi area of Nairobi four weeks ago, is now pleading with authorities to arrest the prime suspect in her death. The 31-year-old was found dead in her home on March 22, 2025, her lifeless body lying on the sofa, a grim end to what her family describes as a long history of domestic abuse.
The man believed to be behind the horrific act is Samuel Njoroge, her husband, who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident. Witnesses in the neighborhood reported seeing him leave the house in disguises that made it difficult to identify him, raising concerns about his intentions to evade justice.
In a chilling turn of events, Njoroge later took to his social media to post a disturbing message, confessing to the murder and offering a cold justification for his actions. The post sparked outrage among those who knew Naomi, further intensifying the family’s anguish.
Naomi’s family, led by her mother Esther Koech, described a troubled and violent marriage. They recalled countless instances of abuse that Naomi endured at the hands of her husband. According to Esther, the violence was not only physical but also psychological, with Naomi frequently reporting that Njoroge would beat her and even attempt to strangle her. The abuse escalated to the point where the family lived in constant fear for Naomi’s life and the safety of her children.
The family shared disturbing accounts of threats made by Njoroge, not only against Naomi but also against her children. They now fear for their own safety, as they believe he may return. According to the family, he has recently been spotted in Solai, disguised in religious attire to avoid recognition. This has raised alarm among relatives who now feel unsafe in their own home, knowing he is still at large and familiar with their location.
Naomi’s brother, Harson Koech, vividly described the moment he discovered her body. He found her slumped on the sofa, with visible swelling on one side of her face and strangulation marks around her neck. The image has haunted the family ever since, and they say justice will only begin to be served once Njoroge is in custody.
The family is now urging law enforcement agencies to intensify their search and apprehend the suspect. They are also appealing to the public for assistance, asking anyone who may have seen him to come forward and provide information. According to police, the case was reported to the Kabete Police Station, and investigations have traced the suspect’s digital footprint to the Ruaraka area. However, efforts to arrest him have so far been unsuccessful, as he continues to elude capture.
Authorities are asking citizens to remain vigilant and report any sightings of Njoroge. The family maintains that their only hope for peace lies in justice for Naomi, and they will not rest until the person responsible for her death is held accountable.
