A tragic incident unfolded in Nyakbong’ village, Kamjulu area of Kisumu East, after a man reportedly attacked his former girlfriend in a fit of rage over rejection. The 24-year-old woman was ambushed and brutally stabbed by her ex-boyfriend, who had allegedly been struggling to come to terms with the end of their relationship.
The suspect, identified as Sebi Obonyo, is said to have tracked down his ex-girlfriend to her current boyfriend’s residence. It was around 4:45 p.m. on Friday when the attack took place. Without warning, he reportedly stormed into the house and confronted the woman before stabbing her twice once on her left ear and once in the chest using a sharp object. The injuries she sustained were described as life-threatening.
The terrifying incident caused panic in the neighbourhood as the woman’s cries for help drew the attention of nearby residents. By the time they arrived at the scene, the suspect had already fled. The injured woman was rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition. She is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be recuperating.
Investigators believe that the attack was motivated by the suspect’s anger and frustration after his former partner ended their relationship and moved on with another man. This personal motive appears to have driven him to commit the violent act in broad daylight.
Residents of the Nyakbong’ village have been left shocked and deeply disturbed by the assault.
