Three young children in Indiana lost their lives in a tragic murder-suicide carried out by their mother late last summer. The devastating incident, which remained under investigation for several months, was confirmed by authorities earlier this month.
On September 17, 2024, local police were called to perform a welfare check at a home on South Main Street in Wolcottville, a small town about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne. Inside, they discovered four deceased individuals a mother and her three daughters who had all died from inert gas asphyxiation.
The mother, 32-year-old Rebecca Hughes, had taken the lives of her three daughters, Evelyn, 8, Allison, 6, and Amelia, 5, before ending her own life. No additional details regarding the circumstances of their deaths have been released at this time.
The children’s father had long suspected that foul play was involved. He was left devastated by the loss and struggled to comprehend why it had happened.
