Authorities in Embakasi are actively searching for two men accused of luring, assaulting, and ultimately killing a 29-year-old woman. Investigators believe the perpetrators used a female acquaintance to set a trap for the victim before committing the crime under the cover of darkness.
The lifeless body of the victim, identified as Naomi Wangare Mwangi, was discovered on the night of February 18. Witnesses reported hearing a chilling scream that echoed through the neighborhood, alerting residents to the brutal attack. By the time people arrived at the scene, the assailants had already fled, leaving Naomi’s half-naked body behind.
Law enforcement officers were called to the scene, where they collected the body and transported it to the City Mortuary. The devastating news was later relayed to Naomi’s husband, Cornel Ekaset.
According to Ekaset, his wife received a phone call that night before leaving their home, where she had been with their 9-year-old daughter. She stepped outside to meet the caller, never to return. Later that night, when Ekaset arrived home from work, he was met with the grim news from a neighbor his wife had been murdered.
Investigations led to the arrest of a female suspect who was allegedly in contact with Naomi before the attack. Authorities believe she was last seen with Naomi and two unidentified men just moments before the assault.
An autopsy later confirmed that Naomi had been sexually assaulted before being strangled to death.
The search for the two male suspects remains ongoing as police continue gathering evidence and tracking down leads.
