Detectives are investigating the sudden death of a senior female police officer who collapsed and died within her compound in Juja, Kiambu County.
The officer, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was found lifeless in a poultry house within her residence in Jacaranda Court Estate, Juja South. She had been serving as the officer in charge of personnel at the Kasarani police sub-county.
The cause of death remains undetermined, but witnesses reported hearing screams from her compound on Thursday afternoon. Upon rushing to the scene, neighbors discovered her body on the floor.
Authorities confirmed that the officer was on leave at the time of the incident. Senior officers visited the scene and expressed their condolences, describing her as a hardworking and dedicated officer who was always willing to listen to those under her command.
Her body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy as part of ongoing investigations.
This incident marks the second case in recent weeks where a female police officer has collapsed and died unexpectedly. Two weeks ago, another officer passed away outside a police station in Mombasa under similar circumstances. The cause of death in that case was not publicly disclosed.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, an elderly man lost his life after falling from a stool while repairing a roof in Soweto, Kayole, Nairobi.
The 70-year-old man had been working alone on the third floor of an apartment when he slipped and fell headfirst to the floor.
His body was discovered hours after the accident occurred. Authorities believe he lost his balance while working on a chicken house structure and fell, sustaining fatal head injuries.
When police arrived at the scene, they found his body positioned with the head and back on the floor while his legs remained on the stool he had been using. There were visible injury marks on the back of his head, suggesting a severe impact.
The body was later moved to the mortuary for further examination, and investigations into the accident are ongoing.
Both incidents highlight the unpredictability of sudden deaths, prompting authorities to urge caution in workplaces and homes to prevent such tragedies.
