Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested six individuals in two separate drug busts in Nairobi County, leading to the seizure of a significant quantity of bhang. The operations were carried out in Maji Mazuri, Mwiki, and Embakasi, following intelligence reports from members of the public.
In the first operation, officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit and Operations Action Team raided a residence in Maji Mazuri, Mwiki, where they apprehended a 38-year-old suspect. A search of the premises led to the discovery of 67 bales and five sacks of cannabis sativa, which had been meticulously concealed within the house.
Following an initial interrogation, the suspect provided crucial information that led to the arrest of two alleged accomplices. The suspects, aged 43 and 32, were taken into custody and transferred to Muthaiga Police Station. The confiscated drugs were secured at the DCI headquarters for further processing as exhibits.
In a separate incident in Embakasi, law enforcement officers apprehended three individuals found in possession of 181 rolls of bhang and 10 kilograms of unprocessed marijuana. The suspects were taken to Embakasi Police Station, where they are being held pending further legal processing and arraignment.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking networks operating within the city. These recent arrests underscore the ongoing efforts to curb the distribution of illicit substances and ensure the safety of the community.
The DCI has urged the public to continue providing information that could aid in the identification and apprehension of individuals involved in illegal drug activities. The agency remains vigilant in its mission to disrupt criminal enterprises and enforce the law against drug-related offenses.
