Chaos erupted at Kabwata Police Station in Lusaka, Zambia, when six women two of them visibly pregnant arrived at the same time to visit a man they each believed to be their fiancé. What began as routine visitation quickly turned into a scene of confusion, fury, and heartbreak, as the women realized they had all been deceived by the same man: 31-year-old Andrew Kosamu.
The women, unaware of each other’s existence until that moment, had each come with hopes of comforting their detained lover. Instead, they found themselves at the center of a dramatic confrontation. Shouting matches broke out, insults were exchanged, and even physical scuffles ensued, forcing police officers to temporarily step away from their official duties to restore order and separate the aggrieved parties.
Kosamu, now nicknamed by locals as “Mario Promax,” is alleged to have maintained romantic relationships with all six women, each of whom believed they were his only fiancée. His charm and carefully spun lies enabled him to create an elaborate network of deception. He reportedly convinced each woman of his love and long-term intentions, proposing to them and securing money under the pretense of wedding preparations.
To keep his web of lies intact, Kosamu allegedly altered personal details, including his age, claiming to be born in 1991 instead of 1994. He kept his partners in different neighborhoods including Chudleigh, Chelstone, and Chongwe ensuring that none of them would cross paths.
His scheme began to unravel following a serious incident involving one of the fiancées, Regina Mwanza. Regina had lent Kosamu her BMW out of trust and affection, only to learn later that he had forged the vehicle’s ownership documents and produced a fake Zambia Development Agency certificate. He then sold the car for K110,000 (approximately KSh 510,000), leaving Regina devastated and out of both a fiancé and a vehicle.

As Regina dealt with the betrayal, the five other women shared their own harrowing stories. Many had given Kosamu significant amounts of money often sourced from village banking loans to fund a wedding that would never happen. Each had believed they were investing in a shared future. Instead, they were left betrayed, financially strained, and emotionally scarred.
The situation is especially tragic for the two women who are in their final trimester of pregnancy. They now face the prospect of single motherhood, having been led to believe they were building a family with a man who, it turns out, was leading a double or perhaps even sextuple life.
Police have since confirmed that Kosamu will be formally charged with forgery, uttering false documents, and theft of a motor vehicle. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are urging any additional victims to come forward, suggesting that Kosamu’s web of deceit may extend beyond these six women. Early reports hint at possible pending cases at other police stations in Lusaka, raising the possibility that the full scale of his scams has yet to come to light.
The Kabwata incident has sparked wide public attention and debate, with many expressing shock over the extent of the deception and the emotional toll it has taken on the victims. As the legal process unfolds, more details about Kosamu’s double life are expected to emerge, painting a clearer picture of how one man manipulated love for personal gain.
