Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Dandora, in collaboration with the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, have successfully arrested two suspects linked to a shocking robbery and gang rape incident that occurred on March 11, 2025. The two suspects, identified as Ben Waimari and Moses Odhiambo, alias Pascal, were part of a larger gang of seven individuals who carried out the crime.
The victim, a woman traveling along Ruai-Kangundo Road on her way home to Malaa, became the target of the gang after her car got stuck in the mud. The suspects initially pretended to offer assistance, giving the impression that they were there to help her. However, their true intentions soon became clear as they violently attacked her. The gang forced the woman into the boot of her car and then took control of the vehicle, driving her through various areas, including Kangundo Road, the Mowlem area, and finally stopping near the Nairobi River at Kwa Mbao in Dandora.
At this location, the victim was subjected to a horrific assault by the gang. Her ordeal came to an end when a passing motorist heard her cries for help and intervened. This courageous act forced the attackers to abandon the woman and flee in her car. She was quickly rescued and taken to a hospital, where she received medical attention for the physical and psychological trauma she endured.
In addition to the assault, the suspects stole the woman’s car and her household belongings. They also accessed her mobile money accounts, stealing a significant amount of money. However, the emotional toll of the attack remains the most painful loss for the victim, who had initially believed the suspects were offering her help in her time of need.
The case sparked a rapid response from the authorities, and through meticulous forensic work and an unwavering investigation, detectives were able to trace and arrest the two primary suspects. Their arrests led investigators to Maringo in Buruburu sub-county, where they discovered the stolen vehicle. Unfortunately, the car had been severely damaged and stripped of its wheels, rendering it nearly unrecognizable. In addition to the vehicle, several other stolen items were recovered during the operation, providing further evidence of the suspects’ involvement in the crime.
The two men are currently in police custody, where they are being processed for prosecution. The authorities have confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing, with efforts focused on apprehending the remaining members of the gang who are still on the run. The DCI has assured the public that every possible effort is being made to ensure that all individuals involved in this heinous crime are brought to justice.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that can lurk even when one might expect help. It also highlights the importance of swift and thorough police work in bringing perpetrators to justice. As investigations continue, the authorities are hopeful that the remaining gang members will be apprehended soon, allowing the victim to see full justice served for the traumatic experiences she suffered.
