He singled out co-hosts Mike Wachira and Kerry Martin for their mentorship and unwavering support, highlighting the close-knit relationships that have been pivotal throughout his radio journey.

However, his passion for media eventually drew him back to Kenya in 2018, marking the beginning of his radio journey.

Reflecting on his transition from human rights work to radio, Salapei shared in a past interview, “I was doing human rights for an organization in Rwanda. I was the country’s lead for the organization. I always wanted to be in media, and in December 2017, I quit my job and came back to Kenya on January 4, 2018, and started finding a way out to be on air. Homeboyz took a chance on me, and I’m here.”
