Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, a 41-year-old man from Nevada, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his ex-wife’s girlfriend, Adriana Herrera, and the wounding of his ex-wife. The incident occurred on January 3, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rodriguez-Guillen, who was denied bail after his court appearance, faces charges of open murder, attempted murder, and other felonies related to the crime.
The shooting followed a history of threats and violence stemming from Rodriguez-Guillen’s unresolved feelings about his divorce from his ex-wife, which occurred in 2013. Despite their separation, the two maintained a complicated relationship, continuing to raise their seven children together. However, his ex-wife’s romantic involvement with Herrera, which began approximately a year and a half ago, caused increasing tension. After a series of “on-again, off-again” relationships with her ex-husband, she permanently ended their romantic connection about two months before the shooting. Rodriguez-Guillen reportedly struggled to accept the breakup and had threatened both women several times, saying he would “kill them and send them to hell.”
On the day of the shooting, Rodriguez-Guillen allegedly followed his ex-wife and Herrera as they drove around the Las Vegas area. At one point, Herrera stopped her car in the middle of the street, and Rodriguez-Guillen, driving behind, blocked the car by pulling in front of it. He then exited his vehicle, armed with a rifle, and fired multiple shots into the car. Herrera was shot in the face and died at the scene, while Rodriguez-Guillen’s ex-wife, who was also in the car, sustained a gunshot wound to the hip. She was later taken to the hospital, where she was expected to survive. She identified Rodriguez-Guillen as the shooter.
According to police reports, after the shooting, Rodriguez-Guillen pulled out a handgun and threatened to take his own life. However, when he realized that his ex-wife had been shot, he lowered the weapon, apologized, and called 911 to report the incident. He remained at the scene until the police arrived and took him into custody without further resistance.
Rodriguez-Guillen’s ex-wife later explained to investigators that while they had divorced years ago, they had continued to have a complicated relationship and co-parented their children. She described the relationship between herself and Herrera as one that had its ups and downs but had been permanent for the last two months before the shooting. She stated that she never believed Rodriguez-Guillen intended to harm her, focusing his rage on Herrera instead.
Rodriguez-Guillen’s arrest has led to a series of charges, including two counts of kidnapping, attempted murder, and open murder. He was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 19, 2025, where further proceedings will determine the outcome of his case.
