Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the security of all Kenyans amidst public concern over alleged abductions involving state security officers. Speaking during the burial of Mama Ann Nanyama, mother of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, in Mukhweya, Bungoma County, Mudavadi stated that President William Ruto is dedicated to ensuring the safety of every citizen.
“The President guarantees security for every citizen. It is the government’s responsibility to protect and serve all Kenyans,” he said, dismissing the abduction reports as falsehoods aimed at tarnishing the reputation of state security agencies.
Mudavadi emphasized that the police remain committed to maintaining law and order, a critical foundation for Kenya’s economic progress. He highlighted the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli at the event, underscoring the police service’s readiness to serve and protect.
Reports of abductions have triggered widespread public outcry, with citizens demanding accountability. Mudavadi reassured Kenyans that the government operates within constitutional frameworks, which guarantee fundamental rights and freedoms.
“It is important to uphold national stability and security as they remain paramount for the country’s development,” Mudavadi stressed.
He also lauded President Ruto’s administration for making difficult but necessary economic decisions to stabilize the nation’s economy. He noted that eliminating fuel subsidies and prioritizing production over consumption were critical steps to address public debt and pending bills.
Mudavadi praised initiatives such as affordable housing and universal healthcare, which have faced resistance but are crucial for the nation’s progress. He credited parliament for passing key legislations that enable the government to deliver its development agenda.
Looking ahead, Mudavadi assured Kenyans that projects like the Nakuru-Mau Summit Road dualing and the Standard Gauge Railway extension to Uganda are on track. He highlighted 2025 as a pivotal year, with the government accelerating interventions for economic recovery, job creation, and improved household incomes.
“Kenya remains a beacon of peace and development, and we must support the government’s efforts to deliver on its promises,” Mudavadi concluded.
