Mulaani Primary School in Kalama Sub-county, Machakos, has recently celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art science laboratory. The initiative, spearheaded by alumnus Jackson Nzioki, has brought excitement and joy to parents and the entire community.
Nzioki, who currently serves as the head teacher of Komboni Primary School, utilized his network to secure funding from friends in the UK, resulting in a KSh 3.5 million project. The new laboratory, completed in less than six months, is designed to accommodate 25 learners at a time and is equipped with essential facilities for junior secondary students.
Speaking to the press during the unveiling ceremony, Nzioki emphasized the importance of the new laboratory. “This lab is not just for Mulaani Primary; it is for all the students in Kalama who aspire to learn and grow,” he said. “The most important things required for a solid education are classes and laboratories. Together, we can build a brighter future for our children.”
Before the construction of this laboratory, Mulaani Primary School had to rely on a neighboring secondary school’s facilities for practical lessons. The new laboratory not only addresses this need but is also designed to be a shared resource, open to nearby schools, including a local secondary school that also faces a shortage of such facilities. This inclusive approach aims to uplift the entire community by providing access to quality educational tools.
The opening ceremony saw excited parents expressing their gratitude and hope for the future, seeing this development as a significant step towards enhancing the educational resources available to their children.
As the new laboratory begins to serve the students of Kalama, it stands as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the enduring impact of dedicated individuals like Jackson Nzioki. Through such efforts, the vision of a brighter and more educated future for the children of Kalama becomes ever more achievable.
