Arnold Kamau, a DJ based in Narok, is recovering from severe injuries after being brutally attacked by a police officer in an incident believed to be fueled by a love triangle. The assault, which took place on Sunday, has left Kamau with a broken hand, a swollen face, and multiple lacerations, prompting calls for justice from his family and the local community.
Kamau shared his harrowing experience with Inooro TV, recounting how the officer, identified only as Walter, forcefully broke into his home. According to Kamau, the officer accused him of being involved with his lover, a barmaid who is reportedly in a relationship with the officer. The confrontation quickly escalated as Walter dragged Kamau out of his house and began assaulting him with kicks and blows.
“He beat me with a stick until it broke into pieces. He also had a knife, but my neighbours’ shouts stopped him from stabbing me,” Kamau recounted. The intervention of onlookers, who screamed for help, prevented the attack from becoming fatal. Despite their efforts, the officer continued his assault, leaving Kamau severely injured.
After the initial attack outside his home, Kamau said the officer dragged him into the club where he works, specifically into the sleeping quarters, and continued the brutal attack. “He dragged me into a room where my female colleague sleeps and started punching me with his fists,” Kamau explained. “Then he got a club and beat me with it until my hand broke.”
The conflict, believed to center around the officer’s relationship with the barmaid, has left Kamau confused and shaken. As a DJ, Kamau explained that he is friendly with everyone, including the barmaid, but denied any romantic involvement. “I’m just a DJ, and I’m friendly with everyone. I’m not sure why the officer attacked me,” Kamau said, expressing his disbelief at the unprovoked violence.
Now barely able to walk and with his broken hand and multiple injuries, Kamau is struggling with his ability to support himself in the coming weeks. His family, particularly his mother, Jericka Kamau, is demanding immediate action against the rogue officer. Jericka emphasized that if it weren’t for the neighbors’ intervention, her son might have been fatally stabbed.
“We are demanding justice for my son, and action must be taken against this policeman. This is completely wrong and unacceptable,” Jericka told Inooro TV. She expressed deep disappointment over the incident, highlighting her son’s hard work and dedication to his job. “Kamau is a hard-working man, and even if there was an issue, there were better ways to handle it.”
The assault on Kamau has sparked outrage within the Narok community, with many calling for accountability and justice. The incident raises serious concerns about the conduct of law enforcement officers and the abuse of power. Local residents have expressed fear and frustration over the potential for such violent acts to go unpunished, particularly when perpetrated by those meant to uphold the law.
