With their possessions lost and their financial stability shattered, they were forced to relocate. “We were left with nothing,” Tewa continued. “We moved to Nairobi and lived with my aunt for some time before my mum found her footing.”

She turned to selling second-hand clothes, commonly known as ‘mitumba,’ to make ends meet. “She used to sell mitumba to survive,” Tewa shared, highlighting the resilience and determination her mother exhibited during these tough times.
Their financial situation began to improve gradually. Tewa’s family managed to secure a home in Nairobi’s Dam Estate in Lang’ata. This was a crucial step towards stability and allowed them to start a new chapter in their lives. “We then got a house in Nairobi Dam Estate in Langata,” Tewa noted.

She responded to claims that she presents herself as an “Instagram baddie,” emphasizing that her online image does not reflect her true self. “When you meet me I am not an Instagram baddie, I am a villager, very down to earth,” she stated.
