NCBA Golf Series Sets the Stage for East African Doubleheader

The NCBA Golf Series is gearing up for an exciting East African doubleheader as it heads to two prestigious venues this Saturday, August 24. The VetLab Sports Club in Kenya and the Gymkhana Golf Club in Tanzania will host the upcoming tournaments, marking the first regional doubleheader of the series.

Since its inception in March, the NCBA Golf Series has captured the imagination of golfers across East Africa. With tournaments held in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda, the series has attracted a remarkable turnout of over 2,000 golfers. The competition has not only showcased the diverse talent in the region but also fostered a growing community of golf enthusiasts.

This weekend’s tournaments will see more than 200 players at VetLab Sports Club and over 100 at Gymkhana Golf Club. The events will commence at 6:30 AM, offering an early start for the golfers who will be aiming to showcase their skills on the greens. The courses, known for their challenging layouts, will provide a true test of the players’ abilities.

The NCBA Golf Series is not just about the thrill of competition but also about providing opportunities for golfers to advance to the grand finale. Players at both events will be competing for a chance to qualify for the grand finale scheduled to take place at Muthaiga Golf Club in November. The format for qualification is inclusive, with six players from each qualifying event advancing to the final round. This includes the top male and female finishers in Divisions One, Two, and Three, as well as the overall Junior winner.

To date, over 100 golfers have secured their spots in the grand finale based on their performances in earlier series events. This weekend’s doubleheader will be a critical juncture in the series, as players vie for the remaining qualification spots and aim to solidify their chances of competing in the finale.

John Gachora, NCBA Group Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming tournaments. “We are thrilled to return to the VetLab Sports Club and Gymkhana Golf Club for this year’s NCBA Golf Series,” he said. “These events promise intense competition, with top golfers vying for top honors and the chance to play at the Grand Finale in November. Participants will not only enjoy a challenging course but also have the opportunity to network and engage with fellow golf enthusiasts. We look forward to witnessing exceptional talent on the course and strengthening our bonds with the golfing fraternity in that region.”

In addition to the competitive spirit, the NCBA Golf Series emphasizes its commitment to environmental sustainability. Gachora highlighted the bank’s ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the environment. “As part of our corporate social responsibility, we are planting indigenous trees wherever we host our events. We will plant 100 trees at both VetLab and Gymkhana events. This initiative aligns with our broader sustainability goals and contributes to the preservation of our natural environment, including our playing environments,” he added.
