A group of leaders from the North Rift region has stepped forward in defense of President William Ruto, condemning the ongoing political attacks directed at the Head of State. The leaders, including Members of Parliament Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Johanna Ng’eno (Emurua Dikir), and Reuben Kiborek (Mogotio), voiced their strong support for the president during a meeting in Baringo, asserting that such attacks are unwarranted.
In his remarks, MP Oscar Sudi emphasized that the president is solely focused on delivering for the nation, despite the growing online backlash. “These political attacks are unwarranted. The president is focused on delivering for the country, but some people are trying to pull him down,” Sudi stated. He vowed to ensure that President Ruto secures a second term in office and urged critics to give him a chance to fulfill his mandate to Kenyans.
Johanna Ng’eno also weighed in, expressing the need to clarify the government’s progress. He assured that they would not remain silent in the face of the attacks but would instead engage directly with those undermining government efforts. “We want to explain to Kenyans what the government is doing, and we will respond directly to the haters who are derailing development programs,” Ng’eno said.
Adding his voice to the debate, MP Reuben Kiborek criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for making statements that contradict his past actions in office. Kiborek specifically referenced Gachagua’s earlier support for the government’s affordable housing programs, subsidized fertilizer, and new funding models, questioning why these promises no longer seem to hold weight. “When did it occur to him that those things are no longer true?” Kiborek remarked.
The political climate surrounding President Ruto has become increasingly tense, with a growing chorus of social media critics accusing him of steering the country in the wrong direction. However, the North Rift MPs remain resolute in their support, pledging to safeguard the president’s agenda as they work to ensure that his leadership continues to progress.
As the political discourse unfolds, these MPs have made it clear that they will not back down in the face of criticism, rallying behind the president’s vision for Kenya’s future.
