Kisii County is currently undergoing a significant reshuffling in its education sector as part of the nationwide teacher transfer exercise. According to a circular issued by the Kisii County Director of Education, Philip Chirchir, school principals are required to immediately hand over their offices to their successors. The transfer process is being coordinated by the Sub-County Directors, who are conducting the handover sessions across various regions within the county.
The exercise, which began earlier this week, is covering the four sub-counties of Nyamache, Kenyenya, Kisii Central, and Masaba North. For instance, in Nyamache Sub-county, the principals of Ekeonga, Nyabite, Ebiosi, and Usena Mission secondary schools are among those being transferred. Nyisia and Ibeno Secondary Schools in Kisii Central will also be affected by the changes, with new principals set to take over their leadership roles.
The transfers are not limited to these sub-counties, as Kisii South, Etago, and Sameta sub-counties are also involved in the exercise. In Kisii South Sub-county, the principals of Genga DOK St. Raphael Nyangena and St. Andrews Mogumo are set to move to new stations. Similarly, in the Gucha South and Marani Sub-counties, several schools such as Tabaja Township, Nyamonaria, Eramba, Nyakeyo, and Nyabworoba will witness leadership changes with the appointment of new principals.
One significant move is the transfer of the principal at Kebabe SDA Secondary, following an incident involving students from the school in last year’s KCSE examinations. The leadership changes in the region are seen as part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure that school management remains effective and dynamic.
The ongoing reshuffling also includes the principals of Nyatwoni, Maroo Esinde, Nyacheyo, and Nyaguku Secondary Schools from the affected sub-counties, with each institution preparing for a transition in leadership.
These transfers are part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing the education system in the region, ensuring that schools continue to operate smoothly under new leadership. Principals and teachers alike are expected to work together to ensure a seamless transition, with students’ education remaining a top priority throughout the process.
