Over 100 Golfers to Compete in NCBA Golf Series at Nanyuki Sports Club

Over 100 players are set to participate in this weekend’s NCBA Golf Series leg at Nanyuki Sports Club, marking a significant return to the Central Kenya town after a two-year hiatus. The tournament, scheduled for this Saturday, is the fourth last leg on the circuit, and the anticipation is palpable among both the participants and organizers.

Since its inception, the NCBA Golf Series has attracted over 2,000 golfers, primarily amateurs, from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The tournament, sponsored by NCBA Bank, is recognized for its commitment to nurturing amateur golfing talent across the region. The series not only provides a competitive platform for golfers but also fosters a sense of community among participants and enthusiasts alike.

The winners of the Nanyuki leg will earn coveted spots in the grand finale, scheduled for November 29th at Muthaiga Golf Club. A total of six players from various categories—including the top male and female golfers in Divisions One, Two, and Three, as well as the overall Junior winners—will secure their places in the grand finale. With close to 100 players already qualified, including those from the most recent leg at Vet Lab in Nairobi, the competition at Nanyuki is expected to be fierce.

NCBA Group’s Commitment to Golf and Community Development

NCBA Group, the main sponsor of the event, expressed their enthusiasm for bringing the tournament back to Nanyuki after a two-year break. The event’s return to Nanyuki Sports Club underscores the group’s commitment to supporting sports and community development, which they view as integral to their corporate social responsibility initiatives.

John Gachora, the NCBA Group Managing Director, highlighted the importance of this leg in the series and the excitement surrounding its return. “We are thrilled to bring the NCBA Golf Series back to Nanyuki Sports Club after two years. This leg of the series holds a special place in our hearts, and we look forward to reconnecting with the golfing community here. Our commitment to supporting sports and community development remains unwavering, and we are excited to see what this year’s tournament will bring,” remarked Gachora.
