A Spirit Airlines passenger successfully recovered her stolen luggage after it went missing upon her arrival at a Florida airport, employing a clever tactic to aid in her search. Paola Garcia, returning home to Florida, found her small pink hardshell luggage containing valuable Apple products missing from the carousel at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Despite Spirit Airlines employees assuring Garcia that her luggage would be delivered to her house, she became increasingly concerned as the hours passed without its arrival. Garcia’s Apple Watch, one of the stolen items, began pinging from a residence 15 minutes away from the airport, leading her to Junior Bazile’s home. Bazile, an airport employee, had been working when Garcia’s belongings disappeared.
Upon confronting Bazile, Garcia discovered her suitcase but found her valuables missing. Law enforcement later uncovered evidence, including photos of Bazile rummaging through Garcia’s suitcase, leading to his arrest on charges of grand theft. Garcia suspects Bazile may be part of a larger theft operation, raising concerns about the extent of the problem.
