The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched an extensive investigation following the discovery of at least eight dismembered female bodies at an abandoned quarry in Mukuru Slums, Nairobi. The investigation, headed by DCI boss Mohamed Amin, explores several potential leads, including possible links to cult activities, serial killers, or rogue medical practitioners.
The case took a significant turn after Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja announced the immediate transfer of all officers stationed at the Kware Police Station. This move is intended to ensure an impartial and thorough investigation, free from any internal bias or interference.
Kanja’s announcement, made on Sunday, July 14, underscored the urgency and gravity of the situation. As officials continued their search for additional bodies at the Kware dumpsite in Embakasi South Constituency, Kanja emphasized the necessity of a meticulous investigation to uncover the truth behind these heinous acts.
Preliminary reports indicate that all recovered bodies are female, aged between 18 and 30, and were found in various stages of decomposition. The bodies were severely dismembered, suggesting a disturbing pattern of violence.
“Nairobi Funeral Home is currently preserving eight bodies. Investigations reveal that all recovered bodies were female, severely dismembered, and in various states of decomposition,” Kanja stated.
He noted that it would take the police and investigative agencies approximately 21 days to unravel the mystery behind the dismembered bodies found at the Kware dumpsite.
During a press conference at Jogoo House, attended by senior police officials including Acting Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat and Administration Police counterpart James Kamau, DCI boss Mohamed Amin provided insights into the ongoing investigation.
“We have been able to recover eight bodies. Six plus the two of yesterday that were in various levels of decomposition. You will realize that the modus operandi was almost the same. And if you look at the age, between 18 to 30, if you look at the gender, these are all female. If you look at the way the bodies have been sliced and packaged, it is all the same. If you look at the place where the bodies were thrown at the dumpsite, just one spot,” Amin explained.
Amin outlined the potential leads being pursued by investigators, highlighting the need for a comprehensive examination of all possibilities.
“So what are we really looking at? Are we dealing with a cult that is associated with criminal activities? Are we dealing with serial killers that are also associated with criminal activities? We even could be dealing with rogue medical practitioners that are dealing with criminal activities. All these are hypotheses that as investigators we have tried to bring on board,” he added.
Emphasizing the deployment of the best investigators for this case, Amin called for patience and collaboration from the public. The authorities are determined to leave no stone unturned in their quest for justice and to ensure the safety of the community.
As the investigation progresses, the police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in uncovering the truth behind these gruesome murders. The community’s cooperation is essential in solving this case and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
