The first session of the international cybersecurity training program, Positive Hack Camp, has successfully concluded in Moscow, marking a significant milestone in global cybersecurity education. Organized by Positive Technologies with the support of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, this pioneering event brought together 70 cybersecurity specialists from 20 countries, aiming to enhance their skills and knowledge in IT infrastructure protection and practical cybersecurity.
A Global Gathering of Cybersecurity Talent
Positive Hack Camp, which kicked off in August 2024, has established itself as a critical platform for fostering international collaboration and developing cybersecurity expertise. Participants from countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, and South Africa, among others, engaged in an intensive two-week program. They benefited from the expertise of leading Russian cybersecurity professionals who shared their practical experience in safeguarding IT infrastructures and combating cyber threats.
The camp’s focus on hands-on training was evident in the various modules and exercises conducted throughout the program. Attendees had the opportunity to explore real-world scenarios, test their skills in detecting vulnerabilities, and devise strategies to counter cyberattacks. This practical approach not only enhanced the participants’ technical skills but also prepared them to tackle the ever-evolving landscape of global cyber threats.
Strategic Collaboration with Indonesia
One of the significant outcomes of this inaugural session was the announcement of a strategic partnership between Positive Technologies and SGU (Swiss German University) in Indonesia. This collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed during the camp’s closing session, aims to bolster cybersecurity expertise in Indonesia by implementing specialized educational programs.
Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Samuel P. Kusumocahyo, the rector of SGU, emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting, “The rapid adoption of digital technologies is outpacing the development of cybersecurity in many parts of the world. We highly appreciate that Positive Technologies, a world-leading information security company, is willing to share its experience and knowledge with us. We look forward to seeing high-level professionals emerge in our country.”
This partnership aligns with the broader goals of Positive Hack Camp, which seeks to contribute to the development of a global cybersecurity community. By training local cybersecurity professionals and fostering international cooperation, the camp aims to create a network of skilled experts capable of addressing the increasing threats to global digital infrastructure.
Building a Global Cybersecurity Community
Positive Technologies has long been at the forefront of cybersecurity education and innovation. Beyond Positive Hack Camp, the company hosts major annual events such as the international cybersecurity festival, Positive Hack Days (PHDays), and the Standoff Cyberbattle. These events serve as crucial platforms for cybersecurity professionals from around the world to exchange ideas, share experiences, and collaborate on addressing global cyber threats.
In May 2024, PHDays Fest 2 attracted approximately 200 international attendees from 17 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The festival featured a range of activities, including technical workshops, expert panels, and live demonstrations of cybersecurity techniques.
The Standoff Cyberbattle, another flagship event by Positive Technologies, offers cybersecurity professionals the opportunity to engage with phygital twins of real IT infrastructures. This immersive experience allows participants to enhance their skills in identifying vulnerabilities and defending against cyberattacks. A spin-off of the Standoff Cyberbattle was also held during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2024, featuring 42 teams from 21 countries.
A Bright Future for Cybersecurity Training
As Positive Hack Camp concludes its first session, the impact of this initiative is already being felt across the global cybersecurity community. With plans to hold the training event annually, Positive Technologies is poised to continue its mission of developing strong, capable cybersecurity professionals who can contribute to a safer digital world.
Yuliya Danchina, Positive Technologies Customer and Partner Training Director and Head of Positive Education, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating, “The cybersecurity industry worldwide needs strong players capable of training and developing professional talent to create a global result-driven cybersecurity system. Positive Hack Camp is a vital educational project aimed at training local cybersecurity professionals, created to contribute to the development of a global cybersecurity community and the fight against cyberthreats.”
As the demand for skilled cybersecurity experts continues to grow, initiatives like Positive Hack Camp will play a crucial role in shaping the future of global cybersecurity.
