President William Ruto Signs Key Financial Bills into Law

President William Ruto has officially assented to the Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2024 and the Division of Revenue Bill 2024, marking a significant step in Kenya’s fiscal planning. The signing ceremony took place on Monday at State House Nairobi.

The Division of Revenue Bill 2024, sponsored by Ndindi Nyoro, Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, was first introduced on March 12, 2024. After passing through the National Assembly on March 20, 2024, without amendments, it was forwarded to the Senate. The Senate passed the Bill with amendments on May 2, 2024, and referred it back to the National Assembly. However, the National Assembly rejected the Senate’s amendments on May 13, 2024. This Bill aims to outline the allocation of national revenue between the national and county governments for the Financial Year 2024/25.
