Stevo Simple Boy and Machabe Threaten to Cancel Saudi Arabia Show Over Ticket Issues

Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy and his new signee Machabe have raised alarms regarding their upcoming performance in Saudi Arabia. Originally scheduled to perform on September 23rd in Riyadh, the duo is now contemplating canceling the show due to logistical discrepancies that have left them uncomfortable with the arrangements.

The heart of the matter lies in the tickets issued by the Saudi promoter. While the artists had specifically requested business class tickets for their travel, they were instead sent economy class tickets. This has prompted them to express their dissatisfaction publicly. Machabe explained the situation, stating, “We were expected to travel tomorrow, but not everything is okay. We had requested they send us business class tickets, but they sent us economy class tickets. They have already not clarified where we would be staying. We had the deposit, but if they do not communicate, we will return the deposit as we can’t eat anyone’s money.”

The lack of clear communication from the promoter regarding accommodation has added to their concerns. With no specified hotel for their stay in a foreign country, both artists fear the possibility of being left without shelter upon arrival. “Everything is intact, but we can’t go since they have not confirmed. We are not comfortable, and our agreement is not what they sent. Thank you very much for supporting us,” Machabe added, highlighting their apprehension over the arrangements.

This performance in Saudi Arabia marks a significant milestone for Stevo Simple Boy, as it will be his first-ever trip abroad. The rapper, who has garnered fame in Kenya and beyond, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to entertain fans in the Arab nation. Speaking on K24 TV’s Hangout show, he reflected on the impact of his recent catchphrase, “mefi mefi muskla,” which he attributes to his rise in popularity and the chance to perform internationally.

Stevo elaborated on the meaning of his phrase, stating, “‘Mefi mefi muskla’ means no problem, everything is cool.” He believes that this phrase, which has become a staple in his performances, has opened doors for him, allowing him to spread his wings beyond Kenya and reach audiences in East Africa and beyond.

In his characteristic style, Stevo highlighted the importance of individuality in his artistry. “Why do I always change my hairstyle, clothing, and also slang? You know I’m not just an artist in Kenya, but in the entire East Africa. Now I want to spread my wings further and go international,” he explained. His commitment to evolving as an artist has resonated with fans, making him a prominent figure in the region’s music scene.

Despite the excitement surrounding their first international performance, the current predicament has cast a shadow over their plans. The duo’s threat to return the deposit signals their insistence on maintaining professionalism and adhering to agreed-upon standards, a principle that is particularly vital in the entertainment industry.

As the clock ticks down to their scheduled performance, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold. The duo’s dedication to their craft and their refusal to compromise on quality raises the question: will the Saudi promoter take swift action to rectify the situation, or will this be a case of missed opportunities for both the artists and their fans? For now, Stevo Simple Boy and Machabe await clarity from their promoters, hoping that their long-anticipated performance can proceed as planned.
