MTN Uganda and UCC Host ITU Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24): Shaping the Future of Telecommunications

MTN Uganda and the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) have joined forces to host the prestigious International Telecommunication Union Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24). Held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo, this symposium serves as a pivotal platform for discussing key issues and setting agendas crucial to the sector’s development.

The symposium kicked off with a dynamic Industry Advisory Group session, featuring esteemed leaders from both industry and the private sector. Notably, MTN’s Group Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer, Ms. Lele Modise, took on the role of moderator, guiding discussions alongside CEO Mulinge Sylvia M.B.S. Participants engaged in insightful dialogues addressing the complexities of today’s digital landscape and charting pathways for the next decade.

Central to these discussions were themes of sustainable funding models and equitable contributions to digital infrastructure development. As technology continues to evolve, there was a consensus on the critical need for secure, private, and affordable access to ICT for all segments of society. The symposium underscored the importance of adaptable regulatory frameworks capable of keeping pace with rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs), and future technologies such as 6G.
