Rainfall Expected in Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and Coast for Next 7 Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather outlook forecasting rainfall over the next seven days in several regions across the country. According to the latest update, significant precipitation is expected in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and the Coastal region.

In these areas, residents and local authorities are advised to prepare for wet conditions that may include moderate to heavy rainfall. This weather pattern is typical during this time of year, as Kenya experiences its long rainy season, known as the “Masika” season, which generally spans from March to May.

The Central Highlands, including Nairobi and its environs, are likely to see intermittent showers throughout the week. Western Kenya and the Lake Victoria Basin are expected to receive consistent rainfall, contributing to agricultural activities in the region. Farmers in these areas are encouraged to take advantage of the precipitation to support crop growth and replenish water reserves.

Similarly, the Rift Valley, known for its diverse agricultural production, will benefit from the expected rains, aiding in planting and cultivation efforts. The Coastal region, which includes cities like Mombasa and Malindi, should anticipate scattered showers along the coastline, affecting both residents and tourists.

Conversely, other parts of the country, particularly northern and eastern regions, are forecasted to remain mostly dry during this period. These areas typically experience minimal rainfall during the long rainy season, focusing instead on their preparations for the upcoming shorter rainy season later in the year.
