Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has reaffirmed China’s dedication to eradicating corruption, stressing the importance of resolute and sustained efforts to confront this pervasive challenge. Speaking at the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), Xi underscored the necessity of vigorous Party self-governance and reform to maintain the integrity of the Party.
Since the beginning of the new era, Xi highlighted unprecedented efforts to combat corruption, yielding results that have earned widespread recognition. However, he acknowledged the complex and grave nature of the corruption fight, noting that it represents the Party’s most significant internal challenge. Xi called for greater resolve and confidence in this ongoing battle, urging concrete and targeted political oversight at all levels. He stressed that the Party’s strength as the leadership core in advancing Chinese socialism and modernization depends on maintaining its integrity and discipline.
Xi pointed out that the fight against corruption must remain focused on key sectors, issues, and targets, emphasizing both bribe-taking and bribe-giving. He also called for long-term mechanisms to address systemic corruption risks, eliminate unnecessary formalities, and reduce burdens on grassroots officials.
The Chinese leader underlined the role of disciplinary inspection and supervision authorities in driving Party self-reform, urging that their work be carried out with professionalism, in line with legal standards, and with unwavering commitment to Party unity.
Li Xi, the head of the CCDI, echoed Xi’s remarks, stressing that the speech laid out a strategic roadmap for continuing the fight against corruption. He called for unwavering efforts to enhance Party discipline, ensuring that all actions align with the Central Committee’s guidance and policies.
