China has responded to drought-induced crop damage caused by prolonged heat and insufficient rainfall by allocating funds for agricultural production disaster prevention and relief to seven provinces, the Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday. A total of 443 million yuan ($61 million) has been distributed to regions severely affected by drought disasters, including Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, and Shaanxi.
The allocated funds are intended to support agricultural drought-resistant measures such as watering, soil moisture replenishment, crop conversion, and additional fertilization. These measures are crucial for ensuring the successful completion of the critical summer sowing stage and mitigating the impact of the drought on agricultural production. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs have collaborated to distribute these subsidies, emphasizing the importance of timely support to safeguard agricultural sustainability and food security in affected areas.
