Kaiti Constituency MP Joshua Kimilu Disburses Ksh68 Million in Bursaries to Students

Kaiti Constituency MP Joshua Kimilu has made a significant financial contribution to education by disbursing Ksh68 million in bursaries to students within his constituency. The allocation aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families, ensuring continued access to education despite economic challenges.

During a cheque issuance event held at the Mukuyuni NGCDF offices, MP Kimilu addressed principals from various institutions across the constituency. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, urging the principals to publicly list all bursary beneficiaries on their notice boards and provide them with receipts. This move is intended to ensure that the funds are used effectively and reach the intended recipients.

MP Kimilu criticized the National Government for the delayed disbursement of funds to the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF) kitty, which has consequently affected the timely issuance of bursaries. He called on the national government to expedite the disbursement of capitation funds to schools to facilitate their smooth operation. “Principals are suffering running schools. We should mind about them not to overburden them as they run the institutions,” Kimilu remarked.

In his commitment to fairness, Kimilu highlighted that every bursary applicant received support, regardless of their parents’ political affiliations. This inclusive approach ensures that all students in need of financial assistance can continue their education without bias or discrimination.

The bursaries were distributed not only to secondary school students but also to those enrolled in universities and colleges. This comprehensive support system aims to cover various levels of education, reflecting MP Kimilu’s dedication to fostering educational opportunities for all students within his constituency.

The timely distribution of these funds is expected to significantly impact the lives of many students and their families, providing them with the necessary resources to pursue their academic goals without financial hindrance. As the education sector faces numerous challenges, such initiatives by local leaders play a crucial role in bridging gaps and promoting educational equity.
