Kenya Power Introduces Dual Codes via SMS for Prepaid Meter Updates

In a bid to streamline and enhance its prepaid metering system, Kenya Power has announced the implementation of a new procedure for updating token meters. Starting soon, prepaid customers will receive two distinct codes via SMS: the first code serves as a reset code, while the second code acts as the update code. This system aims to ensure smoother and more efficient meter updates for consumers.

However, Kenya Power has issued a crucial deadline for these updates. Prepaid meters that have not been updated by August 31, 2024, will cease to accept tokens. This move underscores the importance of timely action for customers to avoid disruptions in their electricity supply. The initiative aligns with Kenya Power’s commitment to modernize its services and improve the overall experience for its customers. It also highlights the company’s proactive approach to embracing technological advancements in the energy sector.
