University of Nevada, Reno Extension is hosting three major agriculture conferences throughout Nevada in 2025 to provide valuable education and support for local agricultural producers and related businesses. These conferences, which focus on urban agriculture, small farms, and beekeeping, are designed to offer insights into the latest research, tools, and resources to help producers succeed and promote sustainability in Nevada’s food systems.
The Nevada Urban Agriculture Conference, held from January 28-30 in Las Vegas at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, is aimed at supporting both urban farmers and associated businesses. It will provide networking opportunities for farm owners, food bank representatives, chefs, farmers market managers, and others involved in the urban agriculture sector. The conference will feature preconference workshops on marketing, meat and poultry production, and regenerative agriculture. These workshops will be followed by a series of educational sessions and hands-on workshops on Wednesday and Thursday. Attendees will also be able to participate in a networking mixer and enjoy meals provided during the event. Registration for the full conference is $75, which includes access to all workshops, presentations, and meals.
The Nevada Small Farms Conference, scheduled for February 20-22 in Sparks at the Nugget Casino Resort, focuses on smaller agricultural operations. Smaller farm operations often face challenges in marketing their products and accessing resources, making this conference a valuable opportunity to connect with industry professionals, learn about new resources, and hear presentations on maintaining profitable and sustainable operations. The conference format includes preconference workshops on Thursday, followed by presentations and networking opportunities on Friday and Saturday. Registration is $75, which covers all conference sessions, meals, and networking events.
In Minden, the Bee & Garden Conference will take place from March 20-22 at the Carson Valley Inn. This conference focuses on pollinators, such as native bees, and their importance to beekeepers, homeowners, and small-acreage producers. The event will offer presentations and workshops on beekeeping, designing landscapes for pollinators, risk management, and specialty crop production. Additionally, there will be hands-on opportunities and roundtable discussions with industry experts. The registration fee for this conference is also $75, which includes all presentations, workshops, and meals.
Each of these conferences is supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency, and they are designed to help producers and others in the agricultural sector navigate the challenges they face. The conferences also provide a platform for chefs, gardeners, and others interested in agriculture to network and learn about the latest developments in the field.
For those interested in attending, registration for each conference is $75, which includes all workshops, presentations, and meals. The events offer a great opportunity to learn about the latest trends and resources in agriculture, as well as to connect with others in the industry. More information and registration details are available online for each event.
