Comedians from Churchill Show have organized a major event to honor their late colleague, Fred Odhiambo Omondi, who tragically passed away in a road accident on June 15. The incident occurred early in the morning on Kagundo Road and involved a fatal collision between the bodaboda carrying Fred and a speeding bus. According to a police report from Buruburu station, the bus was traveling towards Nairobi CBD from Kayole, while the bodaboda was traveling in the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road near Caltex Petrol station.
Fred Omondi, a former standout performer on Churchill Show, was renowned for his selflessness and charismatic presence both on stage and off. In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, Daniel Ndambuki, widely known as Churchill and a key figure in the comedy industry, described Fred as a talented comic with a lyrical genius and a beloved friend to all comedians.
Despite national concerns such as the Finance Bill, Churchill emphasized their commitment to giving Fred a fitting farewell. The comedy fraternity has decided to postpone Fred Omondi’s burial to June 29 to ensure sufficient time to celebrate his life. A special comedy event titled ‘Fred Omondi Last Laugh’ is scheduled for this Friday at Carnivore, where the entire Churchill Show cast and other industry figures will gather to honor his memory in a meaningful way.
