Mwaura noted that his office is committed to ensuring Bradley receives the necessary support. “This afternoon, Bradley Marongo, popularly known as Gen Z Goliath or simply ‘Bradley Mtall’, paid a courtesy visit to the office of Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura,” read a statement from the spokesman’s office. The statement further emphasized Mwaura’s commitment to helping Bradley resolve the issue of lacking basic identification documents.
The spokesman assured Bradley that he will personally accompany him to meet Julius Bitok, Principal Secretary of Immigration and Citizen Services, to expedite the acquisition of his birth certificate and ID card. Starting next month, Kenyans will be able to receive their ID cards within 10 days of application, a significant improvement from the current wait time of at least 21 days.
Principal Secretary Bitok recently affirmed the government’s commitment to this reform during a public announcement on Monday. According to Bitok, the shorter waiting period will be achieved through the introduction of live capture equipment, which will be deployed across Huduma Centres and National Registration Bureau (NRB) offices nationwide. This new technology will streamline the data capture process, speeding up the overall issuance of ID cards.
The enhanced capacity to process ID applications has been made possible by the recent acquisition of two high-tech printers by the NRB. These printers will boost the bureau’s ability to print ID cards more efficiently, ensuring that Kenyans no longer face long delays in receiving their identification documents.
“It will now take you not more than ten working days from the date of application, down from at least 21 days, to get your ID. We want Kenyans to acquire their IDs as quickly and conveniently as possible,” Bitok said, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving service delivery. This initiative is part of a larger push to modernize Kenya’s public services, making them more responsive to the needs of citizens.
