Police probe suicide as Juja man found dead in electrical shop

Recent incidents across Kenya have led to a series of police investigations into suspected suicides. The cases span several counties, reflecting a troubling pattern that has prompted law enforcement agencies to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding these tragic events.

Juja Tragedy

In Juja town, Kiambu County, a 31-year-old man identified as Ronald Kiprotich Kemboi was found dead in his electrical shop. His body was discovered by his wife after he failed to return home as expected. According to police reports, Kemboi took his own life by hanging himself with an electric cable. The discovery was made when his wife, growing concerned over his unusual absence, visited the shop.

The police promptly arrived at the scene to process it. Despite their efforts, no suicide note was found, leaving the exact motivations behind Kemboi’s actions unclear. His body has been transported to the General Kago Mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination to shed light on any additional factors that may have contributed to his death.

Gucha Case

In Gucha, Kisii County, a 45-year-old man named Moses Matino Kinaro was found dead in what police suspect to be another suicide. Kinaro was discovered with a self-inflicted throat wound from a kitchen knife. The body was found after Kinaro’s family grew concerned when he did not return home.

The motive behind Kinaro’s suicide remains unknown, and, similar to the Juja case, no suicide note was recovered. Police from the Ogembo station were called to the scene and subsequently transported the body to Tabaka Mission Hospital. Unfortunately, Kinaro was pronounced dead on arrival. The investigation is ongoing, with the body currently at the hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy.

Masaba Incident

Further south in Masaba, Nyamira County, another tragic case has emerged. A 41-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree. The discovery was made by local residents, who alerted police from the Gesima station. The body was found in Gesabakwa “A” village.

As with the other cases, no suicide note was found at the scene, and the motive behind this act remains a mystery. The body was moved to the Gucha Nursing Home Mortuary, where it will be examined postmortem. The investigation into this incident is still in its early stages, with police working to uncover any underlying issues that might have led to this heartbreaking decision.

Ongoing Investigations

These incidents highlight a distressing trend of suicides occurring in different parts of Kenya, each case marked by a lack of clear motive or explanatory notes. The absence of suicide notes in all three cases has left family members and authorities searching for answers.

The police are actively investigating each case, aiming to understand the factors that led to these tragic outcomes. Mental health professionals and community leaders have been called to provide support and guidance, emphasizing the importance of addressing mental health issues and offering help to those in distress.

The frequency of these cases underscores the need for greater awareness and support systems for mental health challenges. As investigations continue, it is hoped that more resources and interventions will be directed towards preventing such tragedies in the future.

In the meantime, the families affected by these events are left to grapple with their grief while the police work diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding each case. The community and authorities must remain vigilant in their efforts to offer support and seek solutions to these pressing issues.
