Bright but Needy Students at Kisumu Girls National School Receive Major Boost

Twenty bright but needy students at Kisumu Girls National School have received a significant boost in their educational journey. During a recent funds drive held at the school, several leaders pledged to cover the school fees for these students, ensuring they can continue their studies without financial hindrance.

These twenty students are part of a larger group of thirty-eight learners at the institution who benefit from an endowment fund dedicated to supporting their education. The leaders who stepped forward to assist have each committed to sponsoring five students, demonstrating a strong commitment to the future of these young scholars.

The notable figures who made these pledges include Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kisumu Senator Professor Tom Ojienda, Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Dr. Joshua Oron, and Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga. The announcements were made during the funds drive event, which was presided over by Governor Wanga, an esteemed alumna of Kisumu Girls National School.

The event saw a gathering of influential personalities, including Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o, County Executive for Education John Awiti, Trade Executive Farida Salim, and Head of Public Service Judith Oluoch. Their presence underscored the importance of the initiative and highlighted the collective effort to support education in the region.

Her words served as an encouragement for the students to remain focused and make the most of the opportunities provided to them.

Kisumu County Director of Education, Rosemary Birenge, also spoke at the event, urging parents to support the government’s efforts to improve education across the country. She highlighted that the best gift parents can give their children is a quality education, and commended the leaders for their generous contributions.

The funds drive and the pledges made are a testament to the power of community and the impact of collective action. By supporting the education of these bright young minds, the leaders are not only investing in individual futures but also contributing to the broader goal of educational advancement in the region.

As these twenty students prepare to embark on another academic year, their dreams and aspirations are now within closer reach, thanks to the kindness and support of their community leaders.
