Kenya Defence Forces Mark Over 11 Years in Somalia Fighting Al-Shabaab

For more than 11 years, a dedicated contingent of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the National Police Service has been stationed in the heart of Somalia to combat the operations of the outlawed terror group, Al-Shabaab. This deployment, part of a larger international effort, aims to dismantle the capabilities of Al-Shabaab, which poses a significant threat to regional stability and security.

The presence of KDF and the National Police Service in Somalia is a testament to Kenya’s commitment to counterterrorism and regional peace. Their efforts have been crucial in curbing the activities of Al-Shabaab, disrupting their networks, and providing security to both Somali citizens and the broader Horn of Africa region.

Despite the challenges and risks involved, the ongoing mission reflects the resilience and dedication of Kenyan forces in the fight against terrorism, ensuring the safety and stability of their nation and neighboring countries.
